On this page you’ll mostly see two projects. For one I’m illustrating families with shared interests such as music, art or cooking. I show them in their themed houses and outfits taking part in a fun activity together. The other is a series of illustrations I created for Peachtober, an art challenge with word prompts such as ‘acorn’ ‘strawberry’ and ‘leaf’. I often created a playful environment from the prompts like a theme park or summer camp. In all of my children’s illustrations I work mostly with watercolor and coloured pencil and enjoy playing around with themes to create something immersive and new for children to explore.
These last two illustrations are stand alone. The first was intended as a competition entry with the title ‘Stories of Home’. The idea was to illustrate a personal concept of what home means to you. I decided to show a family who are comforting each other, with even the family dog getting involved. I wanted to demonstrate that even as you grow up, you can still call your parent’s house, ‘home’. The other illustration came from a sketchbook experiment and is a fun piece where I was lightly exploring character and world creation, inspired by children’s shows.
